Karamja in general could use an update. South of Brimhaven it looks like a major square, not quite realistic looking. I never did Legends' Quest before losing membership, but the Kharazi jungle looks like it may be traveled from north to south in ten minutes. Over the RS gold Summer, I had to read a novel set in England during the middle ages (approximately 1150). To get from town to city, the figures had to walk . Most of this time was spent walking through lawless forests, in which there was constant threat of attacks from bandits, outlaws, etc.
The novel is untrue, but I believe it is largely true in regards to land between major cities. The only places in Runescape where this atmosphere exists are the Wilderness and the Kharidian desert. Both of these are large, comparatively dangerous (particularly to an unexperienced traveler), and not packed to the gills with content.
To start with, I believe the lodestone network should be taken off. It kills any sense of adventure even for brand new players that only have to walk to a particular place once. Second, clan camp should be shrunk to perhaps a quarter of its current size. It eliminated a substantial (in dimension ) woods and caused the Falador-Rimmington-Port Sarim area to become unrealistically united together.
Lastly, I believe there should be some additional risks to the"wilderness" involving towns. This might be outlaws coming out to strike youpersonally, natural events, etc. Jagex strove to make this by introducing level 5 highwaymen, but they're insignificant to players over level 10 and don't pose any threats to those that are smart enough to operate. These dangers would correspond to a skill level and could be common at higher levels. They'd come from nowhere and fight only you, very similar to older random events. This could probably help prevent botting too. I would recommend the enlarging of this map also, but that would be quite hard.
Eastern lands are interesting, and I think they have got lots of potential, but until we go in for them I believe I'd rather visit Menaphos and Prifidinas. Additionally, maintaining them ridiculously cryptic is really extremely helpful when they would like to cheap RuneScape gold retcon items in. They're trendy, but unecessary right now, unless Jagex wants to draw within an asian playerbase. Were they're published, I'd love some tie ins with Player owned Ports, Majharrat, and perhaps even another race altogether. . .but not Pandas enjoy in WOW.
